We are hiring Software Engineer to help our Infrastructure, Windows Engineering, and Application Development teams validate that Cotiviti applications continue to work correctly after Windows/Linux Server upgrades, server replacements, third-party application upgrades, .NET framework updates, and web application vulnerability fixes. This is a hands-on, Windows/Linux-focused role centered on testing, comparing pre- and post-upgrade behavior, and confirming that nothing has regressed. You will work under the close guidance of senior engineers, who will provide context, ramp-up support, and mentoring. Cotiviti develops innovative applications in healthcare analytics, and this position helps keep the underlying Windows/Linux platforms current, secure, and supportable so the business can continue to deliver value to our clients. This role is a strong fit for application support engineers, QA engineers, or junior .NET developers who enjoy methodical validation work in Windows/Linux environments. Responsibilities - Validate and test that homegrown, third-party applications, services, scheduled jobs, and integrations behave the same on upgraded or replacement Windows servers as they did on the prior environment. - Execute manual, functional, regression, and smoke tests against migrated/upgraded servers and document results, defects, and parity findings clearly. - Support testing and rollout activities for upgrades of end-of-life Windows Server operating systems, working alongside Infrastructure and Windows Engineering teams. - Help verify third-party application upgrades and .NET framework updates by running the application, checking behavior, reviewing event logs, and reporting issues to the responsible developer. - Retest web application vulnerability fixes (OWASP-class issues, library CVEs) after developers apply changes, confirming the issue is resolved and nothing else broke. - Compare pre- and post-upgrade behavior of homegrown MS Access applications, Windows services, IIS-hosted web applications, application pools, scheduled tasks, file/share permissions, and database connectivity, and report any deviations. - Follow change-control processes and keep clean records of tests run, evidence collected, and issues found. - Escalate complex or ambiguous issues to senior engineers and learn from their guidance. - Complete other related duties as assigned. - Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field. - Strong manual, functional, regression, and smoke testing skills, including the ability to write and follow test cases and document results. - 1–3 years of professional experience in any of the following: application support, QA / software testing, junior software development, or Windows systems administration. - Comfort working on Windows Server (logging in, navigating services, viewing event logs, checking IIS and scheduled tasks). Deep admin expertise is not required. - Ability to read VBA, Java, C# / .NET code well enough to follow application flow and discuss findings with developers. You do not need to be a heavy .NET writer. - Strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail. - Ability to execute on project deliverables in a dynamic, fast paced environment within estimated timelines - Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills - Willingness to learn, ask questions, and follow defined change-management and documentation procedures. Nice to Have (Any of These Are a Plus — None Are Required) - PowerShell scripting for routine validation or automation tasks. - Exposure to IIS, application pools, and ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core hosting. - Basic SQL Server / T-SQL skills for spot-checking data after upgrades. - Experience participating in any Windows Server, SQL Server, or .NET upgrade/migration project. - Familiarity with vulnerability scanning or retest workflows using tools such as Veracode, OWASP ZAP, or Burp Suite. - Familiarity with ticketing and change-management tools such Jira. - Exposure to healthcare data or HIPAA-regulated environments. - Any of: Microsoft .NET / Windows Server/Linux certifications, CompTIA Security+, or ITIL Foundation.
